DETERMINING THE SIZE OF YOUR PORTRAIT Our goal is to have your portrait be "Just Right" to be enjoyed by all. To be something you show off when friends and family come to your home. Some Thoughts On Size: (This information is actually from the interior decorating industry and applies to any artwork not just portraits.) The two main considerations that determine size are: Scale in the Space. It should occupy approximately 50% of the space it will be displayed it. Meaning for a typical wall space over a full sized couch a 40" horizontal print is the right size. Over a small couch or fire- place mantel a 30" horizontal print is the right size. Head Size of Subjects. The second consideration is head size. You want to be able to see detail in the expressions of the subjects. This of course varies if the portrait is a head and shoulders of two people or a full body environmental portrait of five people. Most families with a full body, outdoor portrait choose at least a 30" portrait to display in their home. Although we suggest things for your consideration, ultimately We Want What Is Right For YOU!
